1. Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu. (BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense.)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: January 2020 – March 2020

Maple hasn't played video games in a while, but she decides to give a VRMMO a try. When assigning status points to her character, Maple decides that she wants to stay safe and sinks all of her resources into defense. Through a loophole in the game, Maple almost can't take damage and lives in a near-invincible state. Though she is tough, Maple is a lighthearted girl looking to have as much fun as possible! Join Maple as she progresses through the game and finds some wild solutions to her problems!

Like Last Dungeon, BOFURI has an overpowered main character who does not know what it is normal to be worried about. Just as Lloyd refers to monsters as "pests," Maple makes it rain poison occasionally to get a little more XP. The way their minds work when it comes to dangerous situations is full of comedy! Both anime have video game influences and characters that are so quirky with their problem-solving that they attract others. Last but not least, they both share super-long-titles-whose-meaning-is the-show's-premise. This has been a popular trope in recent years, and they both play it off well!

2. One Punch Man

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: October 2015 – December 2015

Saitama is just your average guy, eating convenience store meals and staving off boredom with hobbies. His hobby of choice? Being a hero! When monsters attack the city, Saitama is there, and with a single punch, his opponents are destroyed! Saitama learns that heroes are an organization with registration, examinations, and standards. What's more, Saitama discovers that it's considered super creepy to run around being an unregistered hero. Starting from the bottom, Saitama journeys to become an official hero!

Saitama's exam to be a hero does not go how he would have liked. Like Lloyd, Saitama performs off the scale in physical exams but fails the written portion. They both start from nothing and fail enough of the entrance exams to feel insecure about their abilities, even though they are comedically overpowered. Both have a moment when someone sees them do something and they later profess "be my sensei!" If you like how Lloyd is just beginning but constantly shows his strong abilities, give a watch (or re-watch) to One Punch Man!

3. Kenja no Mago (Wise Man's Grandchild)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: April 2019 - June 2019

Merlin Wolford raises his grandson, Shin, in the countryside, where they can study magic in peace. On his fifteenth birthday, Shin learns enough about himself and his loved ones that his life going forward is changed. His "uncle" who comes to visit happens to be the nation's king, and his Grandpa and Grandma are known as Gurus and are their country's heroes! And Shin's magic abilities are more advanced than anyone could have expected. Shin has a wild ride as he attends school, learns how his powers measure up, and gets a tight-knit group of friends.

Shin and Lloyd both grow up isolated from the rest of the world. They are both exceptionally strong, but neither has any concept of how they compare to others until the difference is laughably clear. Shin has more confidence than Lloyd and has romance in his life, but Wise Man's Grandchild contains comedy and adventure that keeps the watcher choosing to watch the next episode. For a comedy that shows an overpowered character learning to fit in with society, check out Wise Man's Grandchild!

4. Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta... (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: April 2020 – June 2020

Katarina is a bratty child until one day when she gets a head injury. At that moment, Katarina remembers a past life in another world, and realizes her character is the villainess from her favorite game. Wait… Katarina remembers that her character dies in the end! To make sure she lives in this storyline, Katarina does all she can to be friendly and supportive to the characters who she would have otherwise tormented. She begins to become the center of a harem of guys and girls alike!

Many of today's picks feature an overpowered main character, but that is not the case with this anime. In fact, there's no fighting at all. Why would you like My Next Life as a Villainess? Well, like Lloyd, Katarina is a kind individual to everyone she knows. Both characters find themselves at the center of a harem that they don't even know exists. Lloyd and Katarina remain adorably obtuse as the tensions around and involving them grow! Enjoy a slice of life comedy that will keep you laughing at some of the results of Katarina's survival attempts!

5. Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu (How Not to Summon a Demon Lord)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: July 2018 – September 2018

An otaku wakes one morning and is not in his gaming den. He recognizes his favorite game and has been reincarnated as none other than the Demon Lord, Diablo! He has been summoned by two beautiful babes who were looking to enslave Diablo. The spell backfires, and the spellcasters are enslaved to Diablo, who cannot undo the condition! Now an antisocial guy goes through life with hot ladies he can't even escape in his sleep, and even more, he only gets to speak in how the Demon Lord would say something!

This isekai harem has a main character who, like Lloyd, has no real experience with women. His shy and awkward nature contrasts greatly with the Demon Lord character, whose body he is in, even though he grows throughout the show. These anime also have influences from video games and are harem comedies. Similar to Last Dungeon, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord doesn't shy away from moments of sexual tension. But what's not to love about fan service?

6. Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. (In Another World With My Smartphone)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: July 2017 – September 2017

God makes a mistake and accidentally causes Touya Mochizuki to die. Because God's a good guy, he offers Touya another life in a fantasy world and one wish. Touya wishes to keep his smartphone and is transported to a new world, where he has a literally God-given affinity for magic and is more high-powered than anyone thought possible. Touya starts life in a new world, soon accompanied by a group of admiring girls, who have permanent efforts to woo Touya.

Both of these harem anime have more adult humor than most of the other items on this list. They feature beautiful women who admire and support the main character. Last Dungeon and In Another World With My Smartphone show the adventures of two guys making their way into the world with the aid of a group of ladies who are ready for adventure!
