The 5 Best Action Anime of Summer 2021

As the fall chill arrives here at our hive, we can’t stop thinking about the various summer 2021 anime. In particular, our minds dwell on some of the best action anime to come from this summer session of anime releases. From heroic battles to street brawls, the action this summer 2021 didn’t disappoint and impressed us here at Honey’s Anime. It’s not too late to binge some of the best action anime to release this summer!

5. Seirei Gensouki (Spirit Chronicles)

The two-soul story of Spirit Chronicles was chock full of epic fights that left us in awe. Kirito…we mean Rio is an adept fighter who can use spiritual arts and is no slouch with a sword so it's too hard to see why he's so OP. Some of our favorite fights come early on where Rio battles massive enemies like a large wyvern and a literal giant. We do wish there were more battles in Spirit Chronicles but the several it does contain are memorable for a simple isekai series.

4. Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu (Tsukimichi – Moonlit Fantasy)

Another action isekai—an underrated one—was Tsukimichi- Moonlit Fantasy, which had a ton of action-packed battles! Despite looking pretty average, Tsukimichi’s protagonist Makoto Misumi is a genuine tough guy who isn't afraid to use his enhanced powers to take down anyone standing in his path of peace. The climactic battle between Makoto and two others—Sofia and Mitsurugi—is a series high-point that sent shivers down our spines! Makoto literally rains fire and various other elements on his enemies and it leads to one of the best battles to be seen this summer!

3. Deatte 5-byou de Battle (Battle Game in 5 Seconds)

While not given much in terms of good reviews, Battle Game in 5 Seconds isn't a bad anime for those who love supernatural school fights. Following various students removed from the world, given powers, and forced to fight, Battle Game in 5 Seconds has a very 90s anime feel. Series main character Akira Shiroyanagi steals the show using his “sophist” ability that helps him fool others into believing he has powers he really doesn't have and it leads to some amusing bouts in the show. If you want a Battle Royale-like show with some old-school flair, then we recommend watching Battle Game in 5 Seconds!

2. Boku no Hero Academia 5th Season (My Hero Academia Season 5)

Entering its fifth season, My Hero Academia was under a lot of scrutiny for not following the manga and omitting various scenes but that didn’t stop the show from continuing! Despite the lack of moments and scenes, My Hero Academia season 5 has some of the best hero-vs-villain fights seen! Deku isn't the only one to steal the show this time around, his various hero allies also have some explosive fights like Todoroki and Bakugo’s team against a slew of villains! Needless to say, yes, season 5 of My Hero Academia isn’t the perfect adaptation of the manga but you can’t deny how awesome the fights are! Let us know in the comments some of your personal favorite fights from the 5th season!

1. Tokyo Revengers

Releasing originally in the spring, Tokyo Revengers concluded at the end of summer 2021. Tokyo Revengers contains some brutal fistfights and gang wars that make every action scene much more impactful. Takemichi Hanagaki isn’t the star of these fights either—despite being the main character—and most of the more incredible battles involve his friend/leader Mikey and Mikey’s best friend Draken. Once you witness the battle between the gangs, Toman and Valhalla, you’ll fall in love with Tokyo Revengers and the great action it has!
