Luckily, summer 2021 was filled to the brim with some of the best fantasy series, including some second seasons/parts that just wowed us. As it’s never too late to dive into previous season’s anime pools, we have put together our Top 5 Best Fantasy Anime of Summer 2021 list for you! These series are all complete so you can binge them to your heart's content while you wait for new anime this fall!

5. Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki (How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom)

Souma Kazuya wanted nothing more than to be a regular university student who could one day help others using his wits and intellect in the Japanese business market. Unfortunately for Souma, he didn’t get what he desired and instead was summoned into a fantasy world as a “hero” to be sold to settle a debt. In order to prevent his possible sale from occurring, Souma quickly showed his intellect and began proving himself smart enough to be dubbed the new “temporary king” of this strange new fantasy land.

An isekai about a hero not killing hundreds of enemies or using OP special abilities seems kind of lame, that is until you check out How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom. More economy focused, this fantasy series is all about our smart summoned hero Souma Kazuya using his wits to help a failing kingdom and, wow, is it exciting to watch him do just that! Souma might not have a special powered up smartphone or the ability to change forms but he does have an intellect not seen in many isekai protagonists and it’s why we enjoy watching his antics to save a fantasy world. Fans of series like Spice and Wolf will want to give How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom a try!

4. Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta…X (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X)

Imagine being sent into your favorite otome game but not be blessed with handsome devils wanting your lips but several death just waiting for your wrong choice to be made.Master of Fortune Lover Catarina Claes--who just so happened to be sent into her favorite otome title--had thought she reached the “True End” and found peace after dealing with nasty death flags left and right. However, in My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X our main heroine is about to learn even a gamer can forget a thing or two about their favorite titles! Catarina now has to avoid yet another possible “Dead End” but can she use her knowledge of Fortune Lover when she’s forgotten what ending could come for her next? We know you fans of Catarina will no doubt want to see what her future holds in this second season so be sure to add My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X on your playlists!

3. Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu (Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy)

Have you ever noticed most fantasy isekai protagonists are handsome devils who steal the hearts of oppai blessed maidens left and right? Well...in Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy, male lead Makoto Misumi isn’t really that handsome and for his “ugliness” he’s even thrown into a wasteland! Luckily for us anime fans, Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy doesn’t end there and we see our hero gain some overpowered abilities and let loose on those who attack him! Tsukimichi is a solid fantasy series that has tons of action, a nice amount of adventure and several waifu candidates! If you need a solid isekai fantasy then go watch Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy!

2. Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken 2nd Season Part 2 (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Part 2)

There’s never any rest for a slime that just saved an entire army and stopped the suffering of many monsters! Dying at the hands of a passerby, our young hero was forced to be reborn into a fantasy world as a seemingly weak slime. Thankfully, through RPG logic and clever use of his ability, our slime was able to gain advanced skills and even a party that didn’t want to hunt him but to help him change the world. Part 2 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 doesn’t disappoint as we see Rimuru gain a new title and grow closer to changing this world he’s been reincarnated in. Can Rimuru and his allies overcome evil demon lord Clayman and possibly the one in charge of everything!? Find out by binging the heck out of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Part 2!

1. Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S)

Despite their clear differences, Kobayashi took these powerful human-like entities into her home and they ended up forming a strange family that deals with life in their own very unusual way.The gang returns in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S and we even get a new dragon girl to fawn over in the form of Illulu! This second season is hands-down one of the best fantasy series of summer 2021—even though it does take place in the real world—as we found ourselves cracking up at Illulu's oppai maneuvers—her chest is beyond big—and watching our poor Kobayashi try to deal with these dragon girl antics! Oppai, laughs, and cute dragon girls return in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S so what are you waiting for? Time to go and watch the cuteness of Kanna Kamui and see two sets of oppai—Tooru and Illulu—slam into each other with powerful, but soft, impact!
