Things Get More Serious in Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3

While last season’s Ranking of Kings introduced us to the adorable Prince Bojji and this season has Spy x Family’s Anya, we can’t forget one of our beloved young protagonists. If you looked at the title, then you surely already figured out who we are talking about. That’s right! Our beloved bookworm returns to us after waiting for what seemed like forever. This time, more trouble is haunting her, but she also has more allies standing by her side. We know you’re also very excited, so let’s jump right into our first impressions of Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3!

A Brief History

Since it’s been quite a bit, it may be better to recap what happened previously in Ascendance of a Bookworm. The story revolves around Myne, who got transported to her current body in an older world of magic. Realizing that this world limits the access of books to nobles, she sets out to create books herself. However, a sudden sickness endangers her young life. The only way for her to survive is for her to join the church.

She got accepted after almost killing the high priest, and she managed to be accepted as a blue-robed priest. Even though she already has duties and responsibilities in the church, she continues her inventions while also still spending time with her family. Towards the end of the second season, winter was about to come and Myne was informed that she would have to stay in the church for her own safety.

Things Are Looking Grim

Even though Myne hasn’t necessarily been living a carefree life, her problems mostly include hardships. The only threat she faced during the first two seasons is her sickness, which is then resolved after she joined the church. Season 3, however, has more dangerous threats waiting for Myne. Her inventive genius has finally reached the notice of shadier existences, and these existences seem to be willing to dirty their hands to achieve their goal.

This time, Myne can no longer face the danger on her own. She will have to rely on others to ensure her safety. The good news is that Myne has already established a trustworthy network of allies who are willing to support her. The not-so-good news is that the measures they have to take may not really be favorable to Myne. Nevertheless, the tension is high this season, and we can’t wait to see how things will unfold.

What Lunacy Will Myne Be Bringing in Next?

Myne is notorious for her inventions both in the world of Ascendance of a Bookworm and in the real world. That being said, it makes us wonder what kind of monstrosity she’s going to pull out next. Season 3 has already shown us that she’s already making board games and is continuing her quest to make books accessible. Given that her life is literally in danger, it is highly likely that the rate she releases her inventions will also slow down. However, we are also well aware that Myne is one stubborn girl. She literally doesn’t stop until she realizes what she wants, even if that most of the time means endangering herself.

Final Thoughts

Ascendance of a Bookworm is finally back with its third season, and we are unspeakably excited about it! But while the first two seasons are more light and gay, the third season seems like it's going to be filled with tension and danger. Even so, we can’t help but wonder what else Myne has in store for us. The danger is also an opportunity for the other characters supporting Myne to finally show the extent of their love and support for our beloved bookworm. Needless to say, season 3 of Ascendance of a Bookworm is already off to a great, fiery start.
