Get ready for the Top 5 Anime Characters Born on Christmas!

5. Lala from Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou (Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls)

Lala is a character from the hilarious fantasy harem anime Monster Musume. She is a Dullahan, a liminal species whose job it is to escort souls to the afterlife. Lala joins Kimihito's family of homestay girls after becoming curious of his knack for avoiding death despite being constantly put into deathly situations.

While Lala can be cold, blunt, and often speaks enigmatically and claims to be "Death Incarnate," she is actually very caring and enjoys helping people out! When she comes across a young girl, Yuuhi Hajime, who is terminally ill, she feels the need to help the girl and turns her into a zombie to extend her life, despite messing with death being a taboo for Dullahan. She is willing to defend her friends no matter the cost, and for that, she definitely earns her place on the Top 5 Anime Characters Born on Christmas list!

4. Karma Akabane from Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom)

Karma Akabane is a student in Class 3-E. He’s notorious among his classmates for being a hot-headed troublemaker, skipping school, playing tricks or pranks on other people, and stealing. He can be downright cruel, manipulating and humiliating his classmates, but he also has an empathetic side, standing up for a student in Class 3-E against bullies from another class.

While the school segregates students based on their grades and most teachers believe Class 3-E to be filled with failing students who aren’t worth their time, Karma often stands up for his class and believes each of his classmates has a unique ability and will defend them against prejudiced teachers and students from other classes. While he might not be perfect, he definitely has an endearing side and becomes a deeper character as the series goes on. He surely deserves fourth place on this list!

3. Carole Stanley from Carole and Tuesday

Carole is one of the main characters of the highly-rated drama anime Carole and Tuesday. She gets by on part-time jobs, but she has trouble keeping them because she has a strong will and can be rude to people if they are rude to her. She once deliberately ruins a pair of customers’ food after they harassed her and got fired for it!

Growing up as an orphan and being bullied in kindergarten, Carole is kind and passionate but also suspicious and prefers not to rely on anyone. She feels that no one understands her—that is, before meeting Tuesday. Carole dreams of becoming a musician someday, and she bonds with Tuesday because they both like music. As the series goes on, she and Tuesday develop a close friendship and Carole becomes a sort of bigger sister for Tuesday. She’s a relatable character, and it’s wonderful watching her grow closer to Tuesday!

2. Gou Matsuoka from Free! Iwatobi Swim Club

Gou Matsuoka is a senior high school student and the manager of the swimming club. While it’s a little funny that she’s the manager despite not being able to swim herself, she’s extremely efficient at her job. She’s diligent and organized, putting in a lot of thought into setting up swim practices and joint training sessions. She can be strict if she needs to be, but she’s usually easygoing and friendly, though she also has a quirk: she doesn’t like being called her real name because it’s too “masculine,” and demands people call her “Kou” instead.

Gou has a good relationship with her older brother, Rin, and cares for him deeply. She constantly checks up on him and makes sure he’s doing alright. Part of the reason she agreed to become the manager of the swimming club is that many of the members are his old friends. It’s really sweet watching her interact with her older brother and the other characters, so she’s high on our list of Top 5 Anime Characters Born on Christmas.

1. Chizuru Hishiro from anime ReLIFE

Chizuru Hishiro is a student and a classmate of ReLIFE’s protagonist, Arata Kaizaki. While smart and earning top grades, she can also be shy and lacks social skills to the point she has trouble keeping a job as she finds it difficult to communicate with other people. She’s clueless in social situations, oblivious to the people around her, prefers doing things by herself, so she is often found alone. She even has a hard time understanding her own feelings at times and has to search on the Internet to understand certain emotions, such as love.

Despite her social ineptitude, she desires to change and understand herself and the people around her more. As Chizuru becomes friends with Kaizaki, she begins to learn the significance of friendship and begins to open up to other people and making friends with them too. As the series goes on, she realizes that life is more fun and interesting with friends and comes to treasure the bonds she has with other people. Chizuru is a truly wonderful character that depicts that people can change as long as they are willing to. Her arc is extremely inspirational for anyone suffering from social issues or is trying to become a better person. Chizuru has definitely won her Number 1 spot on our list.

That’s why we here at Honey’s Anime are celebrating this 2017 Christmas by doing what we do best. Providing tons of anime related articles for you all to read. However, a lot of these articles will obviously have a Christmas motif.

Now Christmas is a popular time for anime fans because we all hope Santa has deemed us kind and generous otakus this year and will give us those anime box sets we’ve all been clamoring for. Though, for some Christmas is special because it just so happens to be the day they were born. That means double the number of gifts and jolly to be had! As we thought about that here at Honey’s Anime HQ, we then realized what anime characters shared their birthday with Christmas? That’s why we decided to have an early birthday celebration for some of our favorite characters born on Christmas. Welcome, everyone, to our Top 10 Anime Characters Born on Christmas list. Let us begin this yuletide article!

10. Victorique de Blois from Gosick

  • Episodes: 24
  • Aired: Jan, 2011- Jul, 2011

Beginning our list of Christmas Birthday shout outs is Victorique de Blois from the amazing mystery series Gosick. While many might presume she is a young girl thanks to her small frame, Victorique is actually a 15-year-old girl. A literal bookworm who has read thousands of books in different levels of difficulty and language—which we adore as most of us here at Honey’s Anime are avid readers—Victorique is a great character who is easy to adore. That’s why we will shower her with affection by talking about her role in Gosick and why she should be idolized by all. Let us begin.

Early on, Victorique proves invaluable to our main character Kazuya thanks to her fine detective skills. This in turn comes from Victorique’s high level of intelligence and reading skills. While dealing with her can be tough thanks to her attitude—poor Kazuya—it is because of her detective prowess that the group solves various cases such as the Queen Berry and the Undying Alchemist. A cute detective and a lover of books. What else can you love about the tsundere girl known as Victorique de Blois?

9. Asuka Tanaka from Hibike! Euphonium

  • Episodes: 13 (Season 1)
  • Aired: Apr, 2015- Jul, 2015

We here at Honey’s Anime love music. While some of us here are capable of using instruments and creating sweet melodies, most of us are not. That’s why we always love those who can play instruments whether they are real or like Asuka Tanaka from the series Hibike! Euphonium. Asuka plays the euphonium and is also the vice president of the brass band club at the school. Asuka is also perfect for our list of the Top 10 Anime Characters Born on Christmas seeing as her birthday is December 25th.

While Asuka might smile outwardly and appear energetic and joyful, her troubled past hides deep in the recesses of her heart. That’s why when Asuka shows her true nature she can be considered manipulative and quite cold. Thankfully, Asuka begins to open to her fellow club members and becomes a truly happy person as Hibike! Euphonium goes along story wise. Wearing her red framed glasses and letting her beautiful black hair go wild Asuka plays beautiful music all while looking pretty gorgeous herself. That’s why we forgive Asuka’s true self and can’t wait to wish her a Happy Birthday within our hearts on the 25th of December.

8. Arcueid Brunestud from Shingetsutan Tsukihime

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Oct, 2003- Dec, 2003

Red piercing eyes and gorgeous blond hair are just the outer things we love about Arcueid Brunestud from Shingetsutan Tsukihime. While she might be a vampire and thus can be seen as terrifying, we here at Honey’s Anime love her nonetheless. Even when beheaded by Toono Akiha—though this was when he loses his mind for a brief moment early on in the series—we see that not even death can stop Arcueid. We do recognize that Arcueid comes from a series that aired 14 years ago so let us talk more about her and why she’s amazing. Then you can celebrate her Birthday alongside us!

Roughly around the first few episodes of Shingetsutan Tsukihime, we learn all about Arcueid. Coming from a royal family of vampires, Arcueid has a lot to live up to in her family line. Then when you learn that she is actually a creation of a power race known as TYPE-MOON, one can see that Arcueid is a powerful warrior. Though that doesn’t stop her from still being a nice girl who clearly cares for Toono and her allies in Shingetsutan Tsukihime. While we won’t say drink blood for a toast on her Christmas Birthday, we will say maybe get some fruit punch and drink that, instead. This way, Arcueid will be happy and we won’t face her powerful form where her eyes turn gold…

7. Mio Isurugi from MM!

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Oct, 2010- Dec, 2010

If you want a true example of what a tsundere looks like, then we turn your attention to Mio Isurugi. Hailing from the short 12-episode series known as MM! Mio can be considered a tsundere with a god-complex and that’s being nice. Now, you may be wondering how can we have a girl like this on our list? Simple, Mio is actually quite adorable despite her nature. We have some examples of Mio’s cuter nature to prove our point.

Mio is actually the leader of the school’s Second Voluntary Club where she helps those with issues that can be considered quite severe. For example, Mio assists two souls in the form of Sado Taro and Yuuno Arashiko, the former a masochist and the latter is afraid of men. Despite Mio’s questionable forms of help, she, at least, tries her best to satisfy her own god complex but also to help those who truly feel like they’re not wanted in society. That’s why we wish to help Mio as well by joining the Second Voluntary Club and shouting Happy Birthday when midnight bell tolls to start the Christmas Day. Though, we don’t think we have any problems that she can help and are honestly wouldn’t ask Mio for help seeing as she can be quite scary when he plans don’t work out, just ask Taro.

6. Michiru Matsushima from Grisaia no Kajitsu

  • Episodes: 13 (Season 1)
  • Aired: Oct, 2014- Dec, 2014

While Michiru might smile bright with her cute twintails held by small black ties, that smile holds pain for our Christmas born girl. Hiding a dark past and a second persona, Michiru has had a rough life. However, even when we learned of Michiru’s past and despite her sometimes tsundere act, we love her in Grisaia no Kajitsu. That’s why while we can physically buy Michiru anything for Christmas or her Birthday—seeing as how she is an anime character—we can write some nice things about her. That should at least please Michiru fans out there reading this.

Early on during Michiru’s arc, we learn of her parents’ abuse and her attempts at suicide. At first, it seems as if Michiru will never recover from her past and will hold it as an anchor for her remaining life, as Grisaia no Kajitsu charges onward with the help of the other girls in the series and our main man Yuuji, Michiru finds people who love her and wish for her happiness. That, in turn, pushes her forward and we even see Michiru fighting alongside the others when Yuuji gets into a pretty nasty situation in season 2. That’s why we also hope you show your inner love for Michiru by thinking of her this upcoming Christmas and maybe eating a slice of cake for her as well.

5. Oscar Francois de Jarjeyes from Versailles no Bara

  • Episodes: 40
  • Aired: Oct, 1979- Sept, 1980

While Oscar Francois de Jarjeyes might seem like a prince born into royalty—thanks to the male features and appearance—Oscar is no prince. Instead, Oscar in Versailles no Bara is actually a woman who was born into the Royal Guards family as a girl but was dressed as a male and taught as one since her father wanted a son and not a daughter. From her teen years, Oscar is trained as a male in the army and endures challenges left and right but never gives up. Eventually, Oscar grows up to become a strong fighter and is assigned to protect Marie Antoinette who even falls for her male look and strength. This is only the start to Oscar and why we adore this girl so much.

As Versailles no Bara dives into Oscar’s story, we see her disregard her male upbringing but also uses it for gains that only males could obtain. We respect Oscar for this because it shows that she’s not removing her female side but equally isn’t afraid to play the game that was necessary during her time period the mid-1700s. We know not a lot of you other there may have seen Versailles no Bara but we hope you will give it a shot as it’s an incredible series. Plus, it has Oscar in it which that alone makes the show worth it. Maybe watch it this upcoming Christmas as a present to Oscar and thus keep her story alive in the current anime generation.

4. Karma Akabane from Ansatsu Kyoushitsu

  • Episodes: 22 (Season 1)
  • Aired: Jan, 2015- Jun, 2015

Karma Akabane, what can’t we say about the so called Red Demon of Class E? Despite the lineage Class E has as a place for flunking students and odd balls, Karma is a bit of an exception. While Karma might be a bit quick to get temperamental, he isn’t a fool. Karma is one smart cookie. If you need proof of this, then we’ll give you some to also praise him for his upcoming birthday.

When Class E was forced to face Class A during exams, initially Karma was shown that teamwork is important especially when he faced the top student Asano. The first round of exams in semester one didn’t fair too great for Karma—he still performed well though—but in the second semester, Karma proved to be the superior student. Nabbing a perfect score in math, Karma proved to the school that Class E wasn’t filled with uneducated students. Trust us, we could name a million more times Karma proved to be a great guy in the series but that would take us pages of writing. That’s why for now, we just hope that you remember to wish Karma a happy birthday this upcoming Christmas.

3. Misa Amane from Death Note

  • Episodes: 37
  • Aired: Oct, 2006- Jun, 2007

Some call her a tsundere. Others call her a yandere. Regardless of what you think of Misa Amane—better known by her stage name Misa Misa—this scary and lovely girl was born on Christmas in 1987. Full of love for our main man Light Yagami, Misa is someone we also care for here at Honey’s Anime. Like the others, let us examine Misa more and give her praise for her Christmas birthday.

While Misa might not be as deadly as Light, she is still quite a capable user of the Death Note. Introduced in episode 11, Misa seems innocent at first. Acting as a popular model/idol, Misa could be mistaken as just a plain girl who loves Kira—Light’s moniker—because she was saved by his power. Though, Misa also has a Death Note given to her and when she meets Light she is all too quick to join his side. Loyal, cute and unshakable, Misa Amane should indeed be getting some birthday wishes this upcoming Christmas Day.

2. Levi Ackerman from Shingeki no Kyojin

  • Episodes: 25 (Season 1)
  • Aired: Apr, 2013- Sept, 2013

The human race in Shingeki no Kyojin might be leading a losing battle for survival. However, their battle won’t be a quick loss thanks to Levi Ackerman. Acting as leader of the special operations squad, Levi is considered to be one of the best Titan slayers in the series. Fast, proficient and always trying to stay clean, Levi can be considered pretty odd but that doesn’t take away from his skills. That’s why we plan on praising Levi more as our Christmas and birthday gift as we talk about some of his highlights as a character.

Levi came into frame during some dark moments of Shingeki no Kyojin for Eren Yager. While Levi seemed to be cruel to Eren, it was that cruelty that allowed Levi to keep Eren safe from being executed during the trial. Levi even opened up his doomed squad to Eren to keep watch over him. That’s why Levi might seem cold and act like a loner but he’s one cool guy. Make sure to send Levi some cleaning supplies for his birthday is soon approaching!

1. Victor Nikiforov from Yuri!! on Ice

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Oct, 2016- Dec, 2016

Yuri!! on Ice stunned the anime community when it released in the fall thanks to great animation and characters. Fans like us here at Honey’s Anime got to witness Yuri rise in fame as an ice skater thanks to one particular character who takes our top spot on our list of the Top 10 Anime Characters Born on Christmas by the name of Victor Nikiforov. At 27 years old, Victor was like the rest of our characters on this list, born on the great Christmas Day. That’s why we shall please all the fans of Yuri!! on Ice and give a lot of love to Victor by talking about his best moments of the show.

One moment we loved in Yuri!! on Ice was our first actual meeting of Victor Nikiforov at Yuri’s inn. Here Victor stands up nude—though all you see is his butt—and immediately shows how happy he is too meet Yuri. From here on, we see moments such as the romantic “kiss scene” the silly moments with Yuri and so on. While Victor might have dropped out of the ice skating scene, he won’t drop out of our hearts here at Honey’s Anime. We hope we aren’t the only ones raising up our cups in celebration of this awesome skater.
