9. No Game, No Life

- Aired: Apr 9 to Jun 25, 2014
If you hang together with your brother and your sister for everything, this anime is for you. Sora and Shiro are two siblings who are not particularly interested in the real world, so they live shut up in their room. However, they are very good at playing games. That is why Tet, the almighty god of games invites them to Disboard, a world where all conflicts are solved through complex games. Here, the siblings will have the mission to unify the nations and become the rulers of the virtual world.
Sora and Shiro are quite contrasting, as Sora is outgoing and manipulative, while Shiro is mostly expressionless and coldly logical. The world of Disboard reminds us strongly of the movies Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. The eerie and fantastic locations for the games will make you want to visit Disboard by yourself. In short, if you love games and siblings, this anime might be what you have been looking for.

The vice president (Kuroyukihime) wants to find the creator of the world and the reason why he created it, thus recruited Haruyuki to help her.
And so, a new video game journey begins… Accel World has it all for us fans of RPG and virtual reality. Haruyuki is amiable and courageous when it is required, making of him a charismatic protagonist that grows in self confidence. Welcome to the NHK has become famous for a reason. It was one of the first anime to depict honestly how people with personality disorders suffer from their symptoms and the consequences of such symptoms. Whenever we have felt that we only want to shut down the world behind us, we can relax by watching this anime. Together with Tatsuhiro and Misaki, maybe we can realize that it is worth to give the world one more chance.

This anime is all about friendship and the happiness of our youth days. The six main characters have well defined personalities and background stories. The animation quality is also good, and the overall tone of the story is calm and easy going. If you have ever felt a regret from the past or have good memories with your friends, don’t miss Orange.
4. Summer Wars

That is just the beginning to several comical and dramatic family situations that escalate to become concerning at the national level. Welcome to the Summer Wars!
This movie has the perfect dose of virtual reality and countryside style anime. What at first looks like a romantic comedy becomes a moral tale on doing what is right in the face of adversity. This is the perfect anime for anyone who feels like they don’t belong and are pestered with bad luck. Natsume will meet all sorts of spirits and will find the truth about them, usually ending with more friendships than enemies. Natsume Yuujinchou is such a heartwarming anime that it has spanned five seasons! You definitely don’t want to miss it out if you are a fan of youkai.
2. Boku Dake ga Inai Machi
- Episodes: 12
- Aired: Jan 8 to Mar 25, 2016
Satoru Fujinuma is your regular manga artist who has a stressful life in the city. He has a secret, though: a useful ability called “Revival” that lets him go back in time. Satoru has used his ability in order to save people, but there is a mystery behind it. When he finds out that everything is connected to the murder of a girl when he was very small, Satoru decides to go back to the past to correct it once and for all.
If you liked The Girl who Leaped Through Time or Orange, you will love this anime. It has all the sweetness of the childhood life combined with the dullness of an apparently common adult life. Plus, the mystery only makes the story more attractive. Satoru shows us that there are some things that are difficult to revive, and that with great power comes great responsibility. But that is precisely why we have to grow up and value ourselves, in order to be up to the test.

1. Colorful
- Episodes: 1 movie
- Released: Aug 21, 2010
A certain person has died. This person encounters an angel who gives them a chance to remake their life. Thus, they are reincarnated in Makoto, a student that committed suicide recently. Now they have the chance to correct their errors, but will also have to deal with the reality of Makoto’s painful life.
This movie is about life, and is one of the most masterful with its usage of color. The close ups to the natural scenery combined with good, classical animation are an interesting approach to this psychological tale. In the end, the existentialist conflicts of the character are well balanced enough to convey their anguish but also the beauty of existence. Not for nothing this movie won several prizes.

That is why there is much more out there than romantic love. But tell us, which is your favorite anime for singles and why? Let’s comment away! See you soon 🙂
