This anime actually takes places several years before Fate/stay night, and explains in great detail about the 4th Holy Grail war which rages on in Fuyuki City.

Three nations fight for power with one in striving to succeed in their goals as they take extra steps to ensure they don't fail again. This nation hires a hated man, who is known for his skills, while disregarding the methods he uses to accomplish his goals. He is a killer, and will destroy anything and anyone that crosses his path.

Later, he discovers that the war will force him to choose between those he loves and the nation he works for as they will stop at nothing to obtain the Holy Grail.

Fate/Zero is a thriller that has lots of action in a well themed fantasy world filled with supernatural beings of powers.


2. Claymore

This anime takes place in a world where humans live and coexist with horrifying and evil creatures known as Yoma's . These Yoma's are shape-shifters and blend in with human society, they're known for taking people at random to consume their innards.

Leaving their victims mutilated, a mysterious organization made up of half-human and half-yoma warriors known as a “Claymore” or “Silver Eyed Witches”, fight to rid the lands of these beasts with their huge swords called, Claymores. The series follows a boy named, Raki, who's lost everything dear to him in an attack by Yoma's.

Raki comes across a Claymore named, Clare, who enjoys killing Yoma and is in search of fulfilling her promise of revenge for a loved one.

3. Black Butler

This anime is about a little boy who suddenly loses everything he loves instantly and in order to survive and take revenge for his loved ones, he makes an interesting deal with a demon. His soul, in exchange for his desired revenge.

Ciel Phantomhive is his name, and he's head of the Phantomhive corporation which handles all business affairs and underground duties for the Queen of England, while disguised as a toy manufacture.Assisted by the demon butler, Sebastian, who's powers are matched by his ability as a butler, simply making him one hell of a butler.

The story follows both Ciel and Sebastian along with their servants to uncover the mystery of Ciel's parents' death and the tragedy inflicted on him shortly after. Sebastian helps Ciel in many ways, patiently waiting to take his soul when he has finally obtained his revenge.

4. Pandora Hearts

In this anime, a young boy lives his life carefree and in wealth, just turning fifteen and being one of the heirs to the Four Dukedoms, he is constantly ignored by his father's absence.

But, at his coming-of-age ceremony, his life drastically changes in the worst way possible. Not knowing the reasons behind this change, he is placed in a prison called, Abyss, where sinners are dragged into and punished. While being in Abyss, the young boy meets a Chain (beings born within the Abyss) name is Alice, a Bloodstained Black Rabbit. Uncovering the mystery behind his chaos of being in prison, he helps Alice unravel her lost memories.During this time they both discover the secrets behind the Abyss and an organization called, Pandora.

This anime has strong references to Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.


5. s-CRY-ed

22 years ago in the Kanagawa prefecture, a strange phenomenon had caused the land to split and bulge out from the surface in great heights.

Because of this phenomenon, secluded areas called, The Lost Ground, are formed and house gifted individuals known as Alter's. Alter's have unique powers and are feared by the locals, they are constantly on the run avoiding encounters with an organization that seeks to exterminate them from the planet.

The anime follows Kazuma, a guy who's just trying to live his life as a mercenary helping others for money. You would think he's a person who doesn't care about anyone, but he's always helping out those in need.


6. Trinity Blood

  • Aired: Apr. 29th, 2005 - Oct. 28th, 2005

This anime takes place in the distant future where war and chaos brought destruction, and soon, Armageddon.

A war raged between humans and vampires has the Vatican depending on unique allies to assist the humans. These allies are known as Crusnik, a vampire that drinks the blood of other vampires and are members of a special group led by the Cardinal of the Vatican known as, Ax. One particular Crusnik meets a young girl who decides to tag along with him and train in Rome as an Ax member. As the vampires continue to rage war, the humans fight to stop them from ruling the world.

Trinity Blood can be a bit hard to understand if you haven't read the manga, but nonetheless, it is a great series to watch.
