With the manga already ended and the anime drawing to a close, it’s time to take a look at the power rankings of the Naruto-verse once more and revise it accordingly. It’s definitely not easy to rank them accordingly, especially when more and more powerful baddies keep appearing to challenge our heroes.
With that said, only characters who we have seen fighting in the series will be included and their power ranking will be decided relative to how well they did against whom in certain fights and their rank will be adjusted accordingly. This would lead to the exclusion of the god-like Rikudou Sennin and characters like the tailed beasts.
With that said, let’s proceed on with the list. Believe it!
10. Itachi Uchiha
Itachi is the older brother or Nii-chan of Sasuke, our favourite avenger. He was hailed as the youngest ever to become an ANBU captain and was prized by the clan for being a prodigy. This was all before he committed the Uchiha Massacre and fled Konoha, leaving a broken Sasuke clamouring for revenge.
Over the course of the first half of the series, Itachi would make several appearances but never commit to a full-scale battle. However, whenever he does appear, any opponent he faces off against shows extreme hesitance and caution when going against him, as he is that terrifying.
When he finally faces off against Sasuke, someone who would eventually become one of the most powerful characters in the series, he beats him to the point that Sasuke resorts to drawing out Orochimaru. The scary fact of the scenario is this; he wasn’t even fighting to kill, but to protect Sasuke. All this was done while he had a terminal illness. The world just isn’t ready for a full powered Itachi.
9. Minato Namikaze
Minato is the Yondaime Hokage (Fourth Hokage) who earned the moniker of The Yellow Flash after his actions at the battle of Kannabi Bridge. These actions include decimating the entire army of the opposition in a split second by himself using the Hiraishin no Jutsu. The Hiraishin allowed him to teleport around the battlefield instantaneously, facilitating his defeat of an entire army.
Later on, it was revealed that this terrifying figure was the father of Naruto, and he had sealed half of the Kyuubi’s chakra into his infant son in other to save both of the village and his child. However, before he was consumed by the Shinigami he sealed the other half in himself. Because of this, he was able to access the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode like Naruto when he was summoned by the Edo Tensei.
The ability to command half of Kyuubi’s chakra at will alongside his previous skill set truly makes him a terror to behold on the battlefield.
8. Pain/ Nagato Uzumaki
With the current villains like Madara and Kaguya, adversaries of insane power levels, many have forgotten what a terrifying figure Pain struck in the past. He was originally the shrouded figure that commanded an entire organisation of S-Class criminals using nothing but fear and power. Little was known about him until his location was discovered by Jiraiya. The toad sage was then promptly slain by Pain.
Pain proceeded to not only defeat powerful characters like Kakashi and several Jounin of Konoha at the same time, he used a jutsu so powerful that it leveled the entirety of Konoha in a single almighty push as if calling forth the power of the gods.
It was only the combined efforts of Naruto, the toads, Hinata and the Intel from Jiraiya and Kakashi that enabled Naruto to eventually and marginally defeat the self-declared god. However, it was only near his death that he truly demonstrated why he deserves to be placed at the level of a god, for he broke through the boundaries of life and death and revived everyone he killed during his attack on Konoha.
7. Killer Bee
Killer Bee was strong even as a child, being the only one capable of performing a double lariat with A, the soon to be Raikage. He later gained wardenship of the Hachibi after its previous Jinchuriki was killed.
By himself, Killer Bee is already quite a capable ninja with extreme physical prowess as well as mastery over his chakra. He wields the unique Acrobat style, allowing him to use up to 7 blades at once to attack his opponent in a manner reminiscent of hip hop. When combined with his lightning chakra, he is able to tear anything he comes across to shreds.
With the help of Hachibi, Killer Bee is even more terrifying as he has complete control over the Bijuu chakra. Together, they are able to stand alongside Naruto in the battle against 7 other Bijuu and Obito at once. He truly deserves his title of Guardian of Kumo, for none can break past this unstoppable force of nature.
6. Obito Uchiha
Obito was once the student of the infamous Minato Namikaze alongside Kakashi Hatake and Rin Nohara. However, it was not his tenure with Minato that granted him the prowess that he boasts throughout the series. It was after he was left for dead by his teammates that he was rescued by Madara Uchiha and trained to become a powerful ninja.
He not only has an Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan in one eye but a Rinnegan in the other that he stole from the corpse of the previously mentioned Pain. With two god-like dojutsu at his command, Obito was able to enslave 7 Bijuu at once and decimate the entirety of the Shinobi Alliance at once. It was only the timely arrival of Naruto and Killer Bee that held him off.
But even then, they only barely succeeded.
5. Hashirama Senju
Hashirama was the Shodaime Hokage of Konoha, founding the village alongside Madara Uchiha. He was famous for his wood release that was said to have unrivaled power. Its true prowess was its ability to suppress the Bijuu, allowing Hashirama to seal them into containers. His greatest asset is his remarkable life force, due to being a reincarnation of Asura.
This vast reserves of life force allowed him to regenerate grievous wounds easily, something that Tsunade could only imitate through great effort. His massive energies also allowed him to spew out jutsu after jutsu, easily plowing through any enemy he could come across. It was only his great moral compass that stopped him from conquering the Shinobi world while he was alive, as even Madara admitted that he would not have been able to defeat Hashirama.
4. Sasuke Uchiha
As the self-proclaimed avenger of his clan, Sasuke has stopped at nothing to gain as much power as possible to achieve his goal. He has trained under many powerful Shinobi like Kakashi, Orochimaru and maybe even Obito. With the death of Itachi at his hands, he has even gained the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, making him even more powerful.
It should also be noted he gained access to the Rinnegan due to being a reincarnation of Indra, allowing him to access both dojutsu at the same time. This put him as a formidable threat above even the likes of Obito, as his abilities are naturally gained. It’s a good thing he joined up with Team 7, in the end, isn’t it?
3. Naruto Uzumaki
As the protagonist of the series, it’s no surprise that Naruto ranks so highly on the list. He has seemingly unlimited Chakra due to being the reincarnation of Asura. This, coupled with the potent energies he receives from Kurama, gives him virtually unlimited stores of energy, allowing him to bombard his enemies with Rasengan after Rasengan.
With the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, he was able to stand up to the likes of Kaguya with the help of Sasuke, something that is seemingly impossible due to her goddess status. However, it is not jutsu or chakra that lets him win his battles but his never ending determination to protect his friends. As Naruto once said, “Give up on making me give up!”
2. Madara Uchiha
Madara is the patriarch of the Uchiha clan and one of the founders of Konoha. Scorned by his own people and overcome with jealousy, he left the village and returned with the Kyuubi to battle Hashirama, only to be trounced by the Hokage. It was at the point of his death that he unlocked the Rinnegan, but he never got the chance to use it.
When he was fully revived at during the Fourth Shinobi World War, he had access to both the Sharingan and Rinnegan at the same time. He was able to use both to devastating effect, destroying all in his path with casual ease. In the end, it’s unclear if Naruto and Sasuke would be able to defeat him if not for the intervention of…
1. Kaguya Ōtsutsuki
There was once a priestess who desired for peace throughout the lands. To that effect, she consumed the fruit of the Shinju, granting her the gift of chakra. Her chakra was so potent and deadly by itself that the Shinobi of the modern era simply paled in comparison to her might. So great was her might that the populace alleviated her from priestess to godhood, christening her with the title of Rabbit Goddess.
As the progenitor of chakra, she has access to all forms of nature transformations as well as Kekkei Genkai. She is able to regenerate any wounds with ease, and can even shift through dimensions to level the field to her advantage. The greatest threat she commands against Naruto and Sasuke is the All-Killing Ash Bones. A single hit would corrode their bodies to ash, giving them no choice but to dodge even after receiving the powers of their reincarnations.
She might have lost once before, but it took the efforts of an entire world to defeat her. What does that say about her power?
We are finally coming to a close with the anime. After so many years of airing, the long-running series of Naruto will finally come to an end. With this list, we can remember the many powerhouses that were present throughout the series, and reminisce about the landscape changing battles that they had between each other.
Perhaps with the upcoming series of Boruto, the rankings will change as the newer generation overtakes the current one, but for now, these are the Top 10 Strongest Naruto Characters!
Welcome again to another Top 10 list here on Honey's Anime! We've done a lot of Top 10 lists, but I have a feeling this one is going to be the craziest. While trying to decide who would make this list, as well as ranking them, it has proven to be very difficult and stressful.
One way to help decide the characters, as well as the ranking, was basing it solely on the anime and who we have actually seen fighting in the series. This excludes several character such as Kaguya Otsutsuki and the rest of the Otsutsuki clan, and Rikudou Sennin. The list below will hopefully satisfy you all, but of course, I'm holding my breath.
So without further ado, here is the Top 10 Strongest Naruto Characters.
*WARNING: THIS LIST CONTAINS SPOILERS*
10. Kakashi Hatake
Kakashi is a genius ninja and skilled shinobi, mastering the art of ninja at age 6 when he completed the Chunin exams. Due to the events of his past while trying to save Rin, he loses an eye while protecting Obito, which in return, Obito gives his left eye to Kakashi after suffering from a fatal incident.
With Obito's eye, Kakashi hones his skills and becomes known as the Copy Ninja, striking fear in others who cross paths with him by copying their abilities. He later discovers the power of his left eye which is the eye from the Uchiha clan, that makes him more powerful than anyone has ever expected. Because of Kakashi's abilities, he is able to defeat many foes and demonstrates his strength when he goes up against Tobi who is later revealed to be Obito, a friend he thought was long dead.
9. Minato Namikaze
Minato is one of the most memorable ninjas in the series, he was very skillful in battle with his nickname being the Yellow Flash, because he can teleport himself to pre-marked destinations. Minato surpassed all in intelligence and combat, that later had him becoming the youngest Hokage in Konoha's history.
He was the trainer/teacher for Obito and Kakashi when they were little, and he developed a new technique called the Rasengan, which Naruto later learns from Jiraya and masters it. Minato would have been alive to demonstrate is true abilities and the Rasengan, but he and his wife sacrifice themselves in order to save baby Naruto and the rest of the Konoha village when it was unexpectedly attacked by Tobi/ Obito and the Nine Tails he controlled at that moment.
Minato did succeed in defeating the Nine Tailed beast as he used his power to seal it into his newborn son, Naruto, along with whatever chakra energy he had left to help Naruto control the tailed beast later on in life.
Jiraya is one of the three legendary Sannin, and was trained by the 3rd Hokage, Sarutobi. He is a writer and a known pervert who is always trying to catch a peek at girls when ever he can, claiming it's for research as a writer. He is a powerful Sage user and toad-tamer who has trained Naruto and his father, Minato, as well as Nagato. During a recon mission, he is discovered by Nagato who is now known as Pain, and forced in an all out battle that claims his life.
Jiraya is chosen because he displayed his strength and power by fighting the many puppets of Pain, simultaneously.
7. Nagato Uzumaki/ Pain
Pain is the underling of Jiraya who was given a second a chance in life along with his two friends who were orphans from the third great ninja war. Unable to look the other way, Jiraya looks after them and trains them to fend for themselves with knowledge in being a ninja.
Pain is part of the Uzumaki clan, but has no immediate relation to Naruto. After suffering the loss of his best friend, Pain becomes a different person from now on. Once wanting peace for the world, he become severely strong and obtains a power which allows him to create the Six Paths of Pain, six animated corpses he can use as puppets.
Pains strength is demonstrated in two different occasions, in a battle with Jiraya whom he defeated, and his last battle against Naruto when he attacked and demolished the Hidden Leaf village of Konoha. His power was unimaginable to the point of sacrificing himself in order to bring back to life those he killed in the village, and it was a lot of lives!
6. Itachi Uchiha
Itachi is Sasuke's older brother and one of the strongest members in the Uchiha clan, he massacred everyone in the clan and fled as a fugitive, leaving his past and little Sasuke behind hating him for what he did.
Itachi would return on several occasions in attempt to kidnap Naruto in the name of the group, Akatsuki. During this time, and more like it in the future, Itachi has shown his abilities and skills in ways that would freak anyone out if you had encountered him in battle. Always having a calm and emotionless look on his face, Itachi is one step ahead of the game at all times.
You never really see the full extent of his powers until he faces off with his little brother Sasuke, and in the end of defeat, Itachi shows Sasuke that he was always looking out for him. Love for Sasuke was his true power.
5. Sasuke Uchiha
Sasuke was on his way to becoming a powerful ninja, much like Kakashi, but that all changes when he experiences the massacre of his entire family and clan at the hands of his brother, Itachi. After this event, Sasuke strives to become powerful enough to take on his brother and avenge his kin, for he is the last known survivor.
Later on, he becomes influenced by Orochimaru and flees with him in order to learn how to become stronger than ever. When he does, he defeats Orochimaru and sets out in search of his brother by teaming up with Akatsuki, knowing Itachi is part of the group and a way of getting close to him.
The battle that occurs between them both and the battle with Obito as he teams up with Naruto, is one of the craziest and beautiful display of power in the series.
4. Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto is a boy who was once a trouble maker, but always stood his ground when striving for respect. He claims he will be the village Hokage one day, and because of his enthusiasm and determination, Naruto has become a respected ninja and more.
Not only gaining respect from his own village, he's gained the respect of others around him where ever he goes, while developing strength and power. He is a Jinchuuriki, and has the powerful spirit of the Nine Tailed beast within him, which he later learns to control and coincide with as it allows him to become one of the most powerful ninjas alive.
He demonstrates his strength throughout the series and proves it even more when he battles against Obito, who is already a Sage of the Sixth Paths at the time. One of Naruto's strongest attributes, is his love for his friends and those around him.
3. Obito Uchiha/ Tobi
Obito was known as Tobi earlier in the series as a new member of Akatsuki following Sasori's death. His identity is concealed much of the time in the series until Sasuke defeats Itachi, thus springing forth the fourth great ninja war.
Along with his identity, the true strength of Tobi was never known until his faces against Kakashi revealing his true identity. During this time, he has already become powerful to the point of defeating and capturing all the tailed beast, giving him the power to become the Jinchuuriki of the Ten Tailed beast.
Obito's power is so great, it becomes the main factor in the revival for Madara's mortality.
2. Senju Hashirama
Hashirama was known as the founder of the Konoha village along with his allied friend, Madara Uchiha. Due to unavoidable conflicts with Madara's clan existing with the Hashirama's clan, the Senju Clan of the Forest, they part ways and become enemies which have them fighting to the death. Or so it seemed.
They both display their power when they fight at the Valley of the End and two statues of each other were constructed to commemorate the battle, that's how memorable it was. They later fight again in the series during the fourth great ninja war after they're resurrected from the dead and once again fight to death.
Hashirama was the only user who controlled the Wood Release technique, a combination of the is a mixture of Earth and water nature chakra, that allowed him to manipulate nature for his personal use in battle. Hashirama was also one of the only people able to stop Madara in his tracks, but not during the fourth great ninja war, sadly.
1. Madara Uchiha
Madara was the leader of the Uchiha clan and formed the Konoha village with Hashirama. Although, Madara was the one who felt he should've been elected the Hokage of the village, others thought differently.
Madara challenged the leaders including Hashirama to become the Hokage, but failed and had no support from anyone, not even his clan, who thought Madara only wanted to bring about the war that once brought pain and suffering to his people. Madara set out to challenge Hashirama in the Valley of the End, with his acquired help from the Nine Tailed beast.
He was defeat a presumed dead after the battle with Hashirama. Madara was then resurrected later on in the series and acquired the power of the Rinnegan and Wood Jutsu abilities combined with his Sharingan and Mangekyou Sharingan abilities. With these acquired powers, he is now the strongest character in Naruto, as of now!
The series is currently in the process of filling everyone in about the Chunin exams and how all of the characters got to the positions they're in, as far as rank. It pains me right now to watch the series, because I hate fillers!
After sitting through an intense war with all the ninjas in the land coming together to stop Obito, and now Madara, why show fillers?! I know why, really, but I'm done watching them and I would love for the story to continue, please. But, it gave me time to come up with Top 10 list that I hope everyone can enjoy?! I know I won't make everyone happy, but I stand by my decision.
We have a forum on the site now, if you would like to continue this discussion, let's do it there. Because I have a strong feeling, this is going to be a topic for debate, I'm sure! Just remember, I chose these character because we have seen them use their abilities in a fight, and not those who were mentioned to be the strongest.
But as a whole, who do you think is the strongest character in Naruto? Let us know in the comments below, or start a thread in the forums on the main page!
